5:56pm, Northbound Centennial Expressway/I-235
A pair of concerned citizens hang over the 50th Street overpass along the Centennial Expressway letting northbound commuters heading home know how they feel about the government’s proposed economic rescue plan: “No bailout,” read the florescent pink, hand-written signs.
McCain team actions seem to confirm the message of an “offensive” sign that led to its carrier, 61-year-old librarian Carol Kreck, to be expelled from John McCain’s town hall meeting in Denver, CO, today. What did this sign say?
“McCain = Bush”
I can see why that would be considered so offensive to warrant expulsion from an event billed as “open to the public.” You can watch the video of law enforcement dealing with the “threat” to John McCain.
McCain has apparently taken a page from the Bush playbook. In 2005, the White House had three activists expelled from a Denver public forum with President Bush because it was the administration’s policy “to exclude potentially disruptive guests from Bush’s appearances nationwide.”
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” ......................... .................... — H.L. Mencken, not realizing just how amazingly .........................prescient he was predicting the presidency of .........................the current occupant of the White House
