Miracle Manna

As I struggled with insomnia for yet another night, I finally got up and decided to be a little productive. While I was up, I flipped on the TV (to keep me company) and came across Peter Popoff, a televangelist whose infomercials / “miracle service telecasts” typically run during the wee hours of the morning. He embodies the “perfect storm” of charismatic prosperity gospel preacher meets snake-oil salesman meets Las Vegas entertainment act.
These shows are entertaining in a similar way that pro wrestling is entertaining — fun to watch, but greatly enhanced in its entertainment value by the absurdity of it all. The last time I caught his act on TV, he was peddling “miracle spring water” that could bringing healing and incredible prosperity. Well, now he’s got a new miracle product: Miracle Manna!
