One of my favorite songs of late is John Legend’s “If You’re Out There,” which he sang at the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. I can’t get it out of my head.

I don’t know of many people who have gone through such distinct phases in life as my brother, especially in high school and college. His two most notable phases were is headbanger phase and his boot-scootin’ phase. His favorite music group, as I recall, during his latter high school career was Guns N’ Roses. So, in honor of his birthday, here’s one of their greatest songs…
One of my favorite things about the new iPhone 2.0 firmware is the addition of Apps. They are, simply, software applications made specifically for the iPhone. There are some very handy productivity-type Apps, some cool game Apps, some cool gadget Apps and some pretty fun mindless Apps.
In coming posts, I’ll share with you some of my favorite Apps, but I’ll start with my favorite mindless App. It’s an instant favorite because of the homage it pays to one of my favorite SNL skits, Chistopher Walken’s “more Cowbell” sketch. “I gotta have more cowbell.”
Thanks to Apple’s App Store for the iPhone, I can give him “More Cowbell” with this creation from Glenda Adams. Dr. Macenstein explains:
When you launch the app, Walken begs you for more cowbell, and you deliver by tapping on the screen. If you stop, Walken comes back, hungry for more. It seems he can never get enough cowbell, as this goes on forever. I have been giving Walken all the cowbell I can for about 4 hours straight now, and he still needs more.
In honor of this new App, here’s that infamous “More Cowbell!” skit, one of my all-tie favorites!
The last post reminded me of one of my favorite YouTube videos, which has been around for a while, but is still pretty cool…

If you’re lyric-challenged like me, here are the words…
I need a double cheeseburger and hold the lettuce
Don’t be frontin’ son no seeds on the bun
We be up in this drive thru
Order for two
I gots a craving for a number nine like my shoe
We need some chicken up in here
In this hizzle
For rizzle my mizzle
Extra salt on the frizzle
Dr. Pepper my brother
Another for your mother
Double double super size
And don’t forget the fries.
I absolutely fell in love with this screensaver the first time I saw it. It reminds me so much of Sam when he was little. It always makes me smile and warms my heart. If I need a pick-me-up, this will always do it, although I find myself longing to give Sam a hug! Continued
I am a big Bon Jovi fan. I have been since the mid-1980s when their Slippery When Wet album topped the charts. They have so many great, iconic songs. But, I’m not the only fan in my household. The whole family loves Bon Jovi, including our teenage daughters. They are one of those handful of bands that truly seem timeless.
I love listening to the songs from those early albums because they bring back memories of my high school and college years. And I equally love their songs from their most recent albums. Their latest release is no exception, even if it is “country-fied” as some have described it. Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway is another masterful work of art. Continued
