Last week, I posted about the controversy concerning Barack Obama’s citizenship status, which generated some interesting discussion. After that post, I said I wouldn’t comment any further about it until there some sort of resolution. However, I was pointed by a reader to a lengthy post this morning by Joan Swirsky writing for Tulsa Today. I didn’t think it was possible, but I was truly shocked at what she wrote.
She first opines about the “deafening silence” by the media about the controversy, including the right-wing outlets.
It is no mystery that the leftist media have refused to mention this potentially looming Constitutional crisis in virtually all of their print and electronic coverage. Having shilled for Obama for the past two years – dismissing his longtime radical associations, obfuscating his radical voting record, and taking a pass at their jobs of vetting a presidential candidate – their failure to cover the most explosive story of the 2008 campaign speaks volumes about collusion of the highest order.
Then there are the late-night comics, as well as snarky “humorists” like Bill Maher and Jon Stewart, who take pride in being irreverent and “outing” both people and subjects that others avoid. Not a word.
But what about the failure of the powerful conservative media – how to explain their total blackout of this story?
Could it be because the story is even too far fetched for even the most hardcore right-wingers? Joan singles out some specific examples Continued
JERUSALEM - Israeli police rushed into one of Christianity’s holiest churches Sunday and arrested two clergyman after an argument between monks erupted into a brawl next to the site of Jesus’ tomb.
I like food. I like to eat. I like to eat a lot. But this just makes my stomach hurt!
It took Brad Sciullo 4 hours and 39 minutes to finish a marathon. A meat marathon, that is.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound western Pennsylvania chef is the first person to eat a monstrosity called the Beer Barrel Belly Bruiser: a 15-pound burger with toppings and a bun that brought the total weight to 20.2 pounds.
Whether out of concern for energy conservation or out of necessity because of lack of resources, this ferris wheel is powered by man.

I personally wouldn’t do this, although with my mass I could probably keep the ferris wheel moving for quite some time. Here’s another video of a similarly powered ferris wheel Continued
Ms. Palin has traveled with a briefing team since Sept. 10. Two people close to the campaign, addressing her difficulties, said she had been stuffed with facts as if preparing for an oral exam and had become nervous and unnatural in the few interviews.
Advisers said she was a diligent worker and was frequently up until the small hours of the morning in her hotel room trying to cram as much information as possible before the debate.
Peter Suderman echoes the feelings of many, yours truly included…
The fact that she’s studying to be Vice President through all-night cram sessions, as if the campaign were some undergrad final, does not give me hope. This is a position that requires someone who is already comfortable and familiar with the issues, not someone who’s stuffing facts and figures in her head at the last minute and hoping they all come out in the right order. Obama may not be terribly experienced, but there’s no question he’s got a firm grasp on the major issues of the day.
Proof once again that the current occupant of the White House has certainly lowered the standard if anyone thought that Palin even came close to being qualified for her prospective job. What’s sad though is that she’s struggling to even reach that substantially lowered bar.
What puzzles me even more is that people I know are still defending her. However, if she were the Democratic VP candidate instead of the GOP candidate, they would be saying completely different things. That’s what’s truly unfortunate and why I’m not holding my breath that the American electorate will make the right call in this election.
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” ......................... .................... — H.L. Mencken, not realizing just how amazingly .........................prescient he was predicting the presidency of .........................the current occupant of the White House
